Located in the beautiful San Pedro Valley, Benson boomed in the 1880s as a major transportation hub. You can still see the ruins of the old Butterfield State Depot. Kartchner Caverns State Park near Benson
Kartchner Caverns is a stunning limestone cave in Southeastern Arizona that was discovered in 1974. When you enter into either of the two main galleries, you'll see dynamic formations such as icicle like stalactites and giant stalagmites reaching up from the ground. The park includes a 23,000 sq. ft. Discovery Center which houses world-class exhibits, a large gift shop, regional displays, and education information about the caverns and the surrounding landscape. The San Pedro and Southwestern Railroad near Benson
Hop onboard for a great historic railroad adventure along the San Pedro River, through the Nature Conservancy's San Pedro River Preserve. The tour lasts for four hours and covers approximately 50 miles. The tour includes a guide, who describes the history of the area and the wildlife. The San Pedro Valley Arts and Historical Society Museum - Benson Arizona
The San Pedro Valley Arts and Historical Society Museum rediscovers Benson's early history, as a railroad town. Benson was once the main stop for the Southern Pacific Railroad. Museum building is a restored grocery store and contains many tins and barrels from the store's early years.
