Saguaro National Park

The saguaro - otherwise known as the “monarch of the Sonoran Dessert” - has been protected in Saguaro National Park since 1933. The two areas of the park, east of Tucson in the Rincon Mountains and west of Tucson in the Tucson Mountains, encompass over 91,000 acres. A variety of cactus including the barrel cactus and prickly pear are also abundant in the park. Both areas include a visitor center.
