The Grand Canyon, San Francisco Peaks and the White Mountains offer Arizona residents and visitors respite from the desert heat in beautiful high country surroundings. Smaller attractions like Sunset Crater Volcano National Monument, Meteor Crater and Wupatki National Monument are a few of the regions popular destinations. The Grand Canyon Skywalk, completed in 2007, is west of Grand Canyon National Park. The Skywalk is a glass bottomed walk-way cantilevered 70 feet out over the Grand Canyon. The view is 4,000 feet above the Colorado River and well worth a day-trip. Sedona, below the rim of the Colorado Plateau is well known for its massive red rock formations.
The 2010 Sedona Jazz on the Rocks is held the first weekend in October. This fall festival is one of the best music festivals in the Southwest, showcasing both new and legendary Jazz artists. The setting among the dramatic red rock formations and mountains cannot be beat.
The 20th Anniversary Sedona Arts Festival will be October 9th and 10th, 2010. This destination festival features over 150 artists and craft makers from the US showcasing works in a variety of mediums. A special Kidzone caters to the youngsters, so parents can enjoy browsing the festival. Known for high quality artists, the Sedona Arts Festival is a wonderful festival if you are in the market for art pieces.

Also on schedule are Grand Canyon Unified Schools students from the Scool of Rock. This is a spectacular festival with concerts held at the Shrine of Ages on the South Rim of Grand Canyon National Park.
