Baldy Peak
The next time someone tells you to take a hike, try Baldy Peak. Hikers like to congregate near the top of this 11,590-foot mountain, the tallest in the White Mountain range and the second-highest in the state. This hike, located on the western edge of the Apache National Forest, will take you through some spectacular terrain. You get to start your hike at around 9000 feet and then proceed to a breath-taking height of around 11000 feet. The summit of the peak is sacred to the Apache Indians, and is off limits.

Sunrise Ski Area
Located just 30 miles south of Pinetop is the popular Apache Cultural Center & Museum. The Center serves as a repository for the Tribe's cultural heritage through the preservation of oral histories, archival materials and objects of cultural, historical and artistic significance to the White Mountain Apache people. An Apache Village is on display just outside the Center. A visit to the Culture Center also entitles visitation to the Historic Park and Kinishba Ruins National Historic Landmark, located five miles west of Fort Apache.
